FIELD · 2020

I led census mobilization through the middle of a pandemic.

Census 2020.

The Work

In 2020, getting Detroit counted meant knocking on doors while the city was shut down. I led the field and digital operation off a system and a training I built myself. In one month we knocked 3,702 doors, made 6,190 calls, and reached around 800 people, running field work out of testing sites and pushing outreach online when we could not be in person.

An undercount costs a city money and representation for ten years. That is what was on the line, and we chased it in the hardest year to do it.
